ABOUT US

Inspiring creativity and building
community since 1975

The St George Creative Art & Craft Centre is a not-for-profit community arts centre in Penshurst, run by locals, for locals. For fifty years we've been a place where people of all ages come to learn a craft, finish a project and enjoy good company along the way.

OUR STORY

From the old Pole Depot to
a creative hub

The Centre was established in 1975 to give local artists a place to create, teach and exhibit. Our home is the old Pole Depot on St Georges Road, Penshurst.

What began as a small venue for local artists has grown into one of the St George area's longest-running community arts organisations. Generations of local families have passed through our doors, and many of our members have been part of the Centre for twenty, thirty or more years.

Fifty years on, one thing hasn't changed: we believe creativity should be affordable, welcoming and shared.

GET INVOLVED

Volunteer with us

The Centre is powered by people who give their time, helping with children's classes, lending a hand for events , and keeping our community running.

If you like working with children, we are after assistants to help our children's art tutors during weekly classes. If assisting with the children's classes, you will need to have a valid Working with Children Check.
